Mrs. Cheryl Hinton is no stranger to the education field. She first began her journey as a teacher’s aide at Monterey Bay Christian School, moving up to physical education instructor, and eventually becoming the teacher for grades 5 and 6 in 1983. She continued in the classroom for eighteen years before becoming the vice-principal and eventually the principal of the school. When she stepped down in 2003, she shifted from one ministry to another and joined the volunteer staff at Calvary Christian School.

Mrs. Hinton partners with Mrs. Winn in teaching the elementary art. Her goal is that every child she teaches would know Christ, for knowing Christ brings peace and comfort in life. Mrs. Hinton’s favorite verse reflects this truth: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” (Jer. 29:11).

Her second goal for every child is to teach the student to do the best he or she can and to be content with that. This precept comes from Psalm 139 where the Psalmist discusses how the Lord formed him and knows every thought he thinks. Psalm 139:14 summarizes the Psalmist’s conclusions: “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”
